2013 | Logo Design and Visual Identity
I was stoked when I was invited to design the Heliopolis logo shortly after moving to the US. I was living in Shreveport, LA and Heliopolis was a new independent bi-monthly publication for Shreveport-Bossier's culture and art; providing relevant, up-to-date news for those looking for something a little different than mainstream media.
"Heliopolis" was the boat used by the engineer, Captain Henry Miller Shreve, to clear the Great Raft and make the Red River - the one that sits between Shreveport and Bossier City - navigable. Heliopolis says "our namesake calls to mind the clearing of channels of travel, commerce and communication, which we believe are important to a thriving community."
This design illustrates downtown Shreveport's skyline and the reflection of the bridge that connects the two cities on the Red River. The newspaper design was also used for 2 years until the publication became fully digital in 2015.
